Description

If you want an easy, reliable vegetable side, roast asparagus at 400°F. This temperature gives you tender stalks with lightly crisped edges, without burning the tips or drying them out.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. Wash asparagus and trim off the woody ends.
  3. Pat asparagus completely dry with paper towels.
  4. Spread asparagus in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  6. Roast for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until tender and lightly browned.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

Thicker asparagus spears work best. Avoid overcrowding the pan and make sure the asparagus is dry to ensure proper roasting.
